Harley 883 – The First Step To Owning A Harley Davidson
For more than 50 years now Harley Davidson have been producing a motorcycle known as the Sportster. But it was not until 1986 that they first produced the one we now know as the Harley 883 and which for those of us who dream of owning one of these iconic motorcycles is well within their grasp as they are the least expensive of all the models that Harley Davidson now produce.
As well as the 4 types of 883 Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycles available, there are also 3 types which have a 1200 engine in them and then there is the XL50. This bike came into production this year and was designed to celebrate the 50 years of Harley Davidson producing the Sportster.
The four versions of the 883 Sportster that are now offered by one of the most well recognized custom motorcycles in the world today are as follows:-
1. Sportster 883 XL – Of all these types of motorcycle that Harley Davidson produce this is the cheapest of the lot and will cost anything from $6,595 up to as much as $7,990. 2. Sportster 883 XL Low – Although this bike is actually slightly more expensive than the first model we have mentioned above you will still find it is reasonable in cost at the moment. You should expect to pay between $6,995 and $8,390 for one of these. 3. Sportster 883 XL Custom – Yet another great looking motorcycle which is part of the Harley 883 family and will set you back anywhere from $7,795 up to as much as $9,555. 4. Sportster 883R XL – The most recent model to be included into the Harley Davidson 883 family and although not the most expensive you can still expect to pay $7,795 up to $9,090 for this one.
However as well as Harley Davidson bringing out a number of different 883 models they have also spent time improving the way it feels when you ride it. Along with an enlarged rear axle which has improved these bikes stability, this motorcycle company has made improvements to the frame. Now all the engines are mounted on to rubber rather than directly on to the frame and this has helped to reduce the amount of vibration that the engine causes.
The other main changes that have been made on all the Sportster models and not just the 883 ones is that have a belt drive rather than a chain drive. They come with helical cut transmission gears, which has resulted in a reduction in the amount of gear whine they produce. Then this year they changed the bikes from being carburetted models instead all of the bikes in the range now have a fuel-injected engine instead.
If you really want to own a Harley Davidson without actually breaking the bank in order to do so then you may want to consider these models over many of the others that this motorcycle company has to offer. These models still have the same ride quality and provide you with the same amount of prestige as all other Harley Davidson motorcycles offer.
So if you want to feel the wind rushing past your face just like Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda did in Easy Rider. Then why not seriously consider looking at purchasing a Harley 883 as your next motorcycle purchase.
I agree, I hope all the promises made about honoring warranties don't turn out to be the same old BS!!!. My brand new 07 Texas Chopper needed a $500.00 tranny repair with less than a 1000 miles on it. A .95 cent snap ring was not installed at the factory. I paid for it out of pocket. So the dealer, BLACK DOG Motorcycles has completly turned its back on me. And I have had zero resonse from “The New AIH”. I have a right turn signal out and now my speedo is malfucntioning. The dealer pisses me of more than AIH. They sold the prduct knowing thw bankruptcy was coming and now will not stand behind the products they sell. I love the bike, too bad the support sucks. There is a whole lot more to being in buisness, than taking your customer's money. Good buisnesses stay in buisness, because they are willing to do whats right.
The downturn in the economy is the best thing that could happen to the custom motorcycle industry. All the wannabes will fall by the wayside, and the good buisnesses will come out this stronger than ever.
Do the right thing AIH, stand behind your product…. Hell at the very least do what you said you would do!! I guess time will tell, I for one am not holding my breath
