How To Find Used Motorcycles Values

When it comes to buying a second hand or used motorcycle, it is crucial that you know exactly just how much the motorcycle is really worth and not what the seller thinks it is. Today there are a number of factors which can affect used motorcycles values the main ones being its condition, the year it was built and registered and where it is located.

The easiest way for you to check if the asking price that the seller is valuing their bike at is fair is by using a number of different valuation resources. The most common ones used by dealers and private sellers today are the Kelley Blue Book or the valuation guide from NADA. Below we take a look at these two books in a little more detail along with some other ways to check out the values of used motorcycles.

The first book we are going to be taking a look at is the NADA (National Automobile Dealer’s Association) Guide. Although there is the Kelley Blue Book (which we look at next in this article) many people prefer this one simply because they feel it provides much better valuation information. NADA have been publishing valuation figures on all kinds of vehicles since 1933 so they really do know what they are talking about.

Although the NADA Guide is good most people will often refer to the Kelley Blue Book simply because it is the one that they are more likely to be told about. This particular price guide has now been published for more than 80 years and over this time the publisher has made several changes including the introduction of different types of pricing guides. Also as you will soon discover when you are looking to part exchange your used motorcycle for a new one at a dealership the book that most dealers will refer to for a fair valuation is the “Kelley Blue Book Auto Market Report – Official Guide”.

However rather than providing the person with a true valuation of what the bike may be worth instead it gives you the retail value (price the motorcycle will sell at). The price that you see in this guide is often less than what the dealer would be willing to sell the bike to you at (remember there in it to make a profit). So when looking to buy a used motorcycle it is important that you have all information to hand before.

The more information you have when it comes to knowing the true value of a motorcycle then the more bargaining power you will have when it comes to making the deal. If, however, you are finding it some what difficult to get hold of copies of either the Kelley Blue Book or the NADA Guide then why not go online instead. There are a number of sites now online which can quickly find you the information that you are looking for so you will soon be able to see if you are getting a good deal on the motorcycle you want to buy.

One site that you may be interested in using for looking at motorcycle values is “motorcyclebluebook.com”. At this site they have price details for every single type of motorcycle that has ever been produced. The search program on this site is user friendly and in order to get a valuation from them you just need to enter the make, model and year of the motorcycle. After entering this information all you need to do is wait for the email they provide which provides not just details of how much the bike is worth but at what price it is likely to be sold at.

The other website that is extremely good for getting used motorcycles values from is “Edmunds.com”. Again as with the previous website mentioned this one not only tells you what the bikes are valued at but also the price at which they are likely to be sold at. But in order for you to get the best deal possible on a used motorcycle is for you to compare all the figures the websites and books mention provide against what motorcycles are being sold for locally to where you live.
