Alfa Romeo MiTo gains new MultiJet II diesel in UK, Europe

While the the Alfa Romeo MiTo range has offered diesel derivatives since its 2009 launch, new diesel technology means Alfa’s next generation MultiJet II unit will now be offered in the MiTo 1.3 JTDM-2 in UK and European markets.

The new engine, developed by Technologies (FPT), blends lower emissions, reduced noise and fuel consumption with increased acceleration and power.

Developing 70kW of power and 200Nm of torque, the 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine is capable of taking the MiTo from rest to /h in 11.6 seconds while also achieving a combined cycle fuel consumption figure of just 4.3L/ and a CO2 emissions number of 112g/km – making it fully compliant with strict Euro 5 emissions legislation.

To further bolster MiTo’s environmental credentials, the 1.3 MultiJet II engine comes standard with Start&Stop technology, a second-generation Variable Vane Geometry turbocharger and features a Diesel Particulate Filter.
