Fascinating — thanks, Craig. Do you think the viability of this setup is limited to F1 or other series where overall wheel travel is relatively small, surfaces are pretty smooth, and deformation of the tire carcass accounts for a significant amount of overall compliance? Like could this be run in touring cars?
LeMans series cars enjoy similarly smooth surfaces and probably also have relatively sensitive aero, but they have much lower profile tires…

Car advice as requested: Offer the old one up on Ebay and give it a go! Use any cash to go hunting for a £2-£3k VW and job done! Hopefully this will turn a chore into a bit of fun. Too much money on a car and it just hurts more when you scratch it – or 'gain' envy lines from some dork. Besides, there's talk of a camera upgrade – now that's worthy of investment to someone like Troy who knows how to take such great pictures.
